Why Selling Montrose in the Digital Age is Beneficial for All

The State appears ready to provide a bailout for debt-ridden banks using taxpayer money. However, if it were a religious order or a private company with valuable land assets, there would be calls to force them to sell their holdings. Selling these assets could potentially help resolve their debts and allow for the construction of a new headquarters in a central location. With advancements in technology and a well-developed motorway grid, the need for physical space has decreased. RTÉ, for instance, could focus on its strengths such as sports, music, arts, and documentaries, instead of producing irrelevant talk shows and focusing on notorious individuals. By investing cash reserves wisely, RTÉ could become less dependent on the license fee and government decisions. However, the government believes that having an independent national broadcaster is essential for a thriving democracy, as it holds those in power accountable. Yet, political journalists employed by the national broadcaster may have their opinions influenced by the government.

I would like to make a sincere request to TV and radio producers to stop offering psychological support after fictional shows. If viewers/listeners cannot distinguish between fiction and reality, maybe they should refrain from watching/listening to them in the first place. These announcements come across as pandering to the audience. On the other hand, reporting on natural and man-made disasters, although emotionally upsetting, is part of life and provides valuable experiences. I hope that older children and adults can distinguish between real life and fiction, as their daily interactions would otherwise be consistently traumatic. It is interesting to consider how previous generations managed to mentally survive after watching countless hours of animated shows like Tom and Jerry, Top Cat, and The Three Stooges.

The Irish players should have spoken up after the women’s World Cup just as Roy Keane did in 2002. It is unusual for all players to agree to remain silent, and it is disheartening to see so many women reluctant to express their opinions in 2023.

It is time for Ireland to take action in reducing speed limits on roads to yield multiple benefits. Lowering speed limits on motorways, national, and regional roads would bring advantages, but reducing the top speed on all roads to 80kmh would yield even greater benefits. By implementing these changes now, we can decrease costs and increase returns. Lower speed limits would result in fewer deaths and catastrophic injuries, more money in the community, reduced CO2 emissions, cleaner air, longer vehicle lifespan, reduced harm to wildlife, and reduced electricity demands when transitioning to electric vehicles. This plan aligns with efforts to both reduce emissions and take fair and effective actions. If the Road Safety Authority recommends high-visibility vests for non-car users, it indicates the dangers they face. If roads were treated as workplace environments, speed limits would likely be lower due to health and safety considerations. It remains a mystery as to why the government and local authorities subject pedestrians, cyclists, and children to unsafe conditions when they are aware that speed is a leading cause of accidents.

I disagree with Gearóid Ó Riain’s opinion on school uniforms. I believe that all students should wear school uniforms. If students were allowed to wear their own clothes, especially in secondary schools, it would turn into a fashion show and increase bullying. Uniforms are easier to put on and I imagine that the majority of parents prefer them.

The Northern Ireland Troubles legacy bill is facing opposition from various groups. However, the British government, as the sovereign power, has a vested interest in hiding its involvement in running a loyalist proxy war and its association with official and unofficial agents. Their refusal to cooperate with inquiries and reveal information regarding acts of violence does not bode well for the new scheme.
