Real Madrid’s over-reliance on Jude Bellingham’s goals was denied by Carlo Ancelotti, despite the team’s 0-0 draw against Rayo Vallecano in LaLiga on Sunday.
This goalless draw at the Santiago Bernabeu marked Madrid’s first failure to score this season and they now sit in second place in the league, trailing surprise leaders Girona by two points.

Bellingham, who has netted 10 goals in 11 LaLiga appearances this season, completed the full 90 minutes but will need tests on Monday after an awkward fall in the first half resulted in shoulder treatment.
In his post-match news conference, Ancelotti said, “Bellingham had a shoulder problem and he’ll be assessed tomorrow. He managed to continue playing. We hope it’s not serious and that he’s able to feature against Braga in the Champions League on Wednesday.”
Ancelotti emphasized that Madrid possesses enough goal-scoring options in their squad to compensate for Bellingham’s potential lack of goals or unavailability.
“No. We have a lot of resources,” Ancelotti stated. “Today, we created chances with Valverde, Vinícius Junior, Joselu, and Rodrygo Goes. We lacked clinical finishing.”
Despite Madrid’s 22 shots against Rayo, of which five were on target, with an expected goals value of 2.05, they failed to make a breakthrough.
“We attempted crosses, through balls, direct plays, and every approach, but it didn’t materialize,” Ancelotti explained. “Everyone knows this can happen. You must believe until the end, and the players fought until the last second.
“We are disappointed with the result, but not with the performance. We deserved to win. In the league, our position is good. We have played seven away games and five at home. We are in the race and performing well in the Champions League. There’s no need for panic.”
Madrid will host Braga on Wednesday and later face Valencia in LaLiga on Saturday before the international break.
