The newly announced M3 iMac still comes with peripherals featuring a Lightning port for pairing and charging, contrary to rumors speculating USB-C compatibility.

m3 imac whats in the box
Recently, there were widespread expectations that Apple would transition the Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Mouse to USB-C upon the launch of the M3 iMac. However, these peripherals have not undergone any changes and still feature a Lightning port, as evident from Apple’s recent Mac-related announcements.

Apple’s decision to retain the same accessories is intriguing given the company’s gradual shift toward USB-C. While the entire iPhone 15 lineup, latest-generation iPad models, Siri Remote for Apple TV, second-generation AirPods Pro, and new Apple Pencil now embrace USB-C, the Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Mouse remain exceptions. The only latest-generation Apple devices still equipped with a Lightning port are the AirPods, AirPods Max, and iPhone SE.
