In an interview with Jordan Raanan of ESPN, DeVito shared, “It was a no-brainer for me.” He went on to explain that living at home provides him with the necessary support and comfort to navigate the stresses of being a rookie in the quarterback position. From handling household chores to preparing his meals, DeVito’s family ensures that he can focus solely on the demands of football.
Not only is everything taken care of for him, but he also enjoys the convenience of living just 12 minutes away from the Giants’ facility.
As a bonus, he can even count on his mother for help in the unlikely event of needing to remove a deer paw or hoof from his car’s grill using a big knife.
DeVito’s decision to live at home came as a surprise to some of his teammates, including running back Saquon Barkley. A New Jersey native and undrafted player in 2023, DeVito honed his football skills at Syracuse and Illinois.
With his parents residing only nine miles from the Giants’ facility, DeVito is not far from the team and is well-positioned for the upcoming game against the Cowboys. Facing off against the formidable Doomsday Defense in Dallas, DeVito may find himself longing to retreat home to seek cover under his bed as the Cowboys’ relentless defense could prove to be a formidable challenge.
