Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) once boasted about bringing a unique “middle-school principal energy” to Congress. Little did we know, he was referring to his middle-school detention behavior.
However, his recent actions have gone beyond childish antics. On Saturday, Bowman shamefully pulled a fire alarm at the Capitol to delay a House vote on a stopgap spending bill.
Yes, you read that right. A sitting member of Congress pulled a fire alarm.
This reckless act was not only immature but also potentially dangerous.
Bowman, a self-proclaimed socialist representing the north Bronx and south Westchester County, has already gained a reputation as one of the loudest blowhards in Congress. He labels anyone who disagrees with him, including fellow Democrat West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin, a white supremacist.
According to The Times, Bowman has “captured the id” of Democrats. But what he really captures are open microphones, where he boasts to progressives about preventing America from “sliding back into slavery.”
Even Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) had to intervene during a screaming match between Bowman and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.). If AOC is the voice of reason, it speaks volumes about the chaos within the Democratic Party.
While Democrats claim to stand up for the “norms” of democracy, their actions consistently contradict that. Jamaal Bowman didn’t have the votes, so he resorted to sabotage.
The Capitol police should thoroughly investigate this incident, and the House should formally censure Bowman. His behavior is inexcusable.
