Why I Identify as the ‘CEO of Survival’ after Overcoming a Terminal Brain Tumor, Blood Cancer, and a Near-Fatal Car Crash at 28

A remarkable woman who defied the odds by beating terminal cancer not once, but twice, and surviving a near-fatal car crash, has shared her inspiring story of living life to the fullest after cheating death.

Aria, a resident of Los Angeles, initially mistook painful flare-ups under her right arm for a common infection. However, she soon discovered they were actually mini tumors, and she was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a type of blood cancer. She underwent 16 difficult surgeries and endured multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Just when she received the all-clear from cancer, she received another devastating diagnosis during a routine check-up: brain cancer. Against all odds, Aria achieved remission once again, and in a celebratory act, she embarked on a road trip to visit her best friend. Tragically, this journey led to a near-fatal car crash.

In speaking to NeedToKnow.co.uk, Aria vividly described the extent of her injuries from the car crash: “I had detached my skull from my spine and my occipital bone had shattered into pieces… I had broken all of my ribs on my right side, had no sight or speech initially, and had ripped open my colon, as well as my lower intestine, which caused internal bleeding. I passed out in the driver’s seat due to lack of oxygen and a climbing elevation, although I was at the 80 mph speed limit. I had crossed over all the lanes of traffic, including the oncoming lanes and was found crunched under my steering wheel not breathing.”

Fortunately, Aria was discovered by a highway patrol member and rushed to the hospital, where emergency surgery successfully reattached her skull to her spine just in time.

Though her life was spared once again, Aria faced a lengthy road to recovery. She had to relearn basic skills such as walking and talking. She also followed a strict diet to heal her internal organ injuries, undergoing a step-by-step testing process with simple foods. Despite ongoing challenges and nerve overwhelm in social situations, Aria is grateful for the transformation her experiences have brought.
