Why Donald Trump Considered Recreating his Famous Escalator Entrance for the 2020 Election – And Why Melania Stopped Him

  • Donald Trump expressed interest in reenacting his iconic 2016 election escalator entrance for the 2020 race.

  • However, Melania Trump, his wife, reportedly talked him out of it as reported by The Washington Post.

  • “No, you’ve already done that,” Melania said.

Trump sought to replicate his famous 2015 escalator descent when announcing his 2020 reelection bid.

Nonetheless, Melania, his wife, intervened to persuade him otherwise, according to Business Insider.

The Washington Post unveiled a detailed story about Melania Trump’s activities, mentioning that a former member of her staff revealed Trump’s frequent calls from the Oval Office, seeking advice.

When pondering over his reelection announcement, Trump consulted Melania by asking, “Should I come down the escalator again?”

“No, you’ve already done that,” Melania Trump responded, as per The Post.

Melania Trump referred to an event on June 16, 2015, when Trump descended the golden escalators at Trump Tower before declaring his 2016 presidential campaign.

“Sadly the American dream is dead,” Trump expressed, “But if I get elected president I will bring it back, bigger, and better, and stronger than ever before.”

The report from The Washington Post also indicated Melania’s private advice to Trump to refrain from mocking transgender athletes and dancing at campaign events, which she deemed “not presidential.”

Quoting an interview with Melania’s chief of staff, Stephanie Grisham, the report revealed the challenges in getting her to commit to attending just one event per week.

Grisham also shed light on the “mystery” surrounding Melania’s activities during her time in the White House.

Official responses from Melania and the former president’s teams were not provided to Insider’s requests for comment.
