Whitehall Faces Civil Servant Revolt Amidst Controversial ‘Woke Takeover’

Concerns were raised regarding gender-critical beliefs and their protection under the Equality Act 2010. A government official stated that they were taking these concerns seriously and acknowledged the need to respect such beliefs. They also mentioned that forthcoming Civil Service impartiality guidance would provide clarification and eliminate bias in diversity and inclusion training.

The government is currently preparing impartiality guidance specifically addressing contentious training and policies for civil servants, with the aim to publish it by the end of this year. The Cabinet Secretary and senior Civil Service leaders have confirmed their commitment to address the concerns raised by staff, including through this updated guidance. They emphasized the importance of civil servants recognizing diverse opinions on these issues.

‘I’m in a silent majority bullied into acceptance’

By Anonymous

As a civil servant, I am part of what I believe is a silenced majority that is coerced into accepting the widespread adoption of gender identity ideology. There seems to be no room for freedom of speech when personal or religious beliefs clash with the prevailing narrative. Women who have experienced sexual assault and object to sharing women-only spaces with biological males are particularly affected by this.

Those who hold gender-critical views, which assert that biological sex cannot be changed, face accusations of bigotry and hate, as well as being compared to racists. They are often harassed or silenced, with their perspectives being ignored. Gender ideology, which started within staff networks and HR, has now permeated the entire Civil Service due to the acquiescence or fear of senior leaders.

Even the Women’s Network has been replaced by the “Gender Equality Network,” which advances the notion that biological sex is an “identity” rather than an unchanging characteristic. Unfortunately, this results in a loss of impartiality and objectivity, which are core values of the Civil Service, and instead promotes one side of a heavily contested social and political issue as absolute truth.

Accusations of misgendering

If someone dares to voice concerns about including men in groups that specifically relate to female biology, such as discussions on menopause, they are dismissed, accused of misgendering, and urged to educate themselves by adhering to approved policies. There may even be veiled threats of reporting them to their manager. Senior civil servants remain silent, unwilling to challenge the questionable and offensive notions being presented as facts. It appears that they too are intimidated and fear expressing dissenting viewpoints.

One document aimed at educating civil servants on how to support transgender staff states: “Part of gender transition is living in the gender with which a person identifies. This includes using the facilities they feel are right for them, such as toilets and changing rooms.” However, there is no recognition or support for women who simply desire privacy from the opposite sex or who, due to religious requirements or experiences of sexual violence, may need separate facilities from men. The Civil Service seems to prioritize gender identity over both biological sex and faith.
