Westminster Arrest: Authorities Detain 41-Year-Old Man for Suspected Attempted Rape of Woman

Police have apprehended a 41-year-old Long Beach man in connection with an attempted rape incident in Westminster. The incident occurred behind a CVS Pharmacy on Brookhurst Street, near Cunningham Avenue, late Saturday night.

According to Sergeant Eddie Esqueda of the Westminster Police Department, the suspect, Ernesto Nuno, approached the victim in an alley and exposed himself to her. He then demanded that she perform oral sex on him. When the victim refused, Nuno became violent, punching her in the face and head while attempting to remove her clothes and pin her down.

In an act of self-defense, the woman took out a pocket knife and stabbed Nuno. The injury to his right hand indicated that he had been stabbed. Without incident, officers arrested Nuno shortly after the incident.

Nuno has been charged with attempted rape and assault with intent to rape. He is currently being held at the Orange County Jail.
