“It could be your family next. It’s crucial to protect yourself and your loved ones because tomorrow is never guaranteed,” Swain expressed, reflecting on the horrific incident that unfolded on November 20.
During their routine Thanksgiving shopping, Taylor-Swain and others fell victim to the senseless attack carried out by 20-year-old Benjamin Charles Jones. Taylor-Swain’s relatives revealed the harrowing details of the attack, stating that she was hit seven times by the gunman.
Following the shooting, Taylor-Swain was airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital, where she underwent surgeries to address the injuries sustained from the tragic event. Her family members flew from across the country to lend their support during her recovery process.
Authorities are investigating the shooting as potentially racially motivated, and evidence from a search warrant at the perpetrator’s residence included disturbing items such as Nazi flags and an “SS history book.” The implications of such motives deeply trouble the family.
