The cast and crew of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” came together on June 12 to celebrate the show’s music throughout its five seasons. The event took place at the residential gallery of the Towers of the Waldorf Astoria, where they gathered around Cole Porter’s iconic Steinway piano.
The performers at the event included Emily Bergl, Darius de Haas, Megan McGinnis, Orville Mendoza, and Ross Lekites, who are all part of the Maisel cast. They were accompanied by the Emmy-nominated composers for the show, Thomas Mizer and Curtis Moore of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”.
Coincidentally, the album for the fifth and final season of the show was released on June 9, which also happens to be Porter’s birthday. The 1907 Steinway piano holds significance as it is the instrument on which Porter wrote many of his acclaimed songs. It will be returned to the Waldorf Astoria when the hotel reopens in late 2024.
The album of the show also features “I Wanna Be Around,” a song recorded by Tony Bennett in 1963. Bennett, who often performed at the Waldorf Astoria, recently made headlines as the second-oldest Grammy winner for his collaboration with Lady Gaga on a collection of Porter standards titled “Love for Sale”.
Currently, the most expensive unit at the Towers of the Waldorf Astoria is a four-bedroom residence priced at $18.5 million. However, there are rumors that two penthouses in the copper cupolas will soon be hitting the market at “record-breaking” prices, surpassing the current highest price.
