Vocal Cord Cancer Diagnosis Unveiled by Dick Vitale

Dick Vitale, the esteemed college basketball analyst at ESPN, shared news of his recent cancer diagnosis on Wednesday.

Vitale, who has previously overcome battles with melanoma and lymphoma, underwent a procedure to remove and analyze vocal cord tissue at Massachusetts General Hospital earlier this week.

Following the analysis, Vitale disclosed that he will undergo radiation treatment for vocal cord cancer.

“I regret to inform you that I received difficult news today from Dr. Zeitels regarding my throat,” Vitale wrote.

“The test results from the removed tissue indicated that I have vocal cord cancer and will require six weeks of radiation treatment. Dr. Z informs me that it has an exceptionally high cure rate, and that radiation, rather than surgery, is the optimal approach.”

Last April, Vitale celebrated being declared cancer-free after a seven-month battle with lymphoma.

In his announcement on Wednesday, Vitale expressed his intention to recover and return to the airwaves in time for the college basketball season.

“I intend to fight vigorously to be ready to commentate on games when the college hoops season commences in the Fall,” he continued.
