Vivek Ramaswamy Faces Legal Action from Eminem

Eminem, widely recognized for his hit song “The Real Slim Shady,” has recently expressed his disapproval of GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy’s use of his music at campaign events.

Eminem’s legal team reached out to BMI, the music licensing organization, and demanded the revocation of Ramaswamy’s license to use his music, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Ramaswamy, known for spontaneously performing Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” at events, received a cease and desist letter from Eminem’s camp on August 23, stating that his use of the music is no longer permitted.

The letter also warns that any future performances of Eminem’s works by Ramaswamy’s campaign will be considered a breach of agreement, with BMI reserving the right to take appropriate actions.

Tricia McLaughlin, spokesperson for Ramaswamy, acknowledged the request and stated that the campaign will comply. She humorously added, “To the American people’s chagrin, we will have to leave the rapping to the Real Slim Shady.”

It’s worth noting that Ramaswamy has been a long-time fan of Eminem, even performing “Lose Yourself” during his time as an undergraduate at Harvard University.

Despite the issue with Eminem’s music, Ramaswamy is facing other controversies, including criticism for comparing progressive anti-racists to the KKK and contradictions in his statements about the January 6, 2021, insurrection.
