Megan Frederick and Lawson Builder exchanged vows in May and decided to incorporate a unique element into their wedding celebration, as they shared on their social media.
In a viral TikTok video that has already garnered over 1 million views, Frederick showcased the highlight of their wedding: custom cocktail napkins that were available to guests during cocktail hour.
While having custom cocktail napkins is a popular trend at weddings, Frederick and Builder, who have been together since high school, took it a step further by sharing their love story with their loved ones.
Using scanned love notes they had written to each other throughout their relationship, Frederick printed them onto the napkins, allowing guests to read and cherish their heartfelt messages during the reception.
In a subsequent TikTok video, Frederick explained that she chose a letter Builder wrote in 2012 and a letter she wrote in 2016 for the napkins, ensuring that their handwriting was preserved in the design.
She also added the date of each letter to the corner of the napkin, symbolizing the longevity of their relationship.
“These napkins were a huge hit at our wedding,” Frederick shared in the second TikTok video. “I received so many compliments on them.”
In the follow-up video, Frederick detailed the process of creating the napkins. She took a photo of each note using her iPhone, applied a black-and-white filter and increased the contrast. Then, she used the editing app Canva to make any necessary adjustments and printed the notes onto napkins using Vista Print.
According to Frederick, the project only cost around $100 but had a significant impact on their wedding. Despite her initial hesitation about having custom cocktail napkins, she couldn’t be happier with the result.
