Authorities are currently investigating the death of a 38-year-old man who was discovered shot to death in a homeless encampment in Valley Village. The victim, identified as Wesley Orso by the Los Angeles County Office of Medical Examiner, had no known place of residence.
The incident was reported on Saturday at Tujunga Avenue and Cumpston Street, where officers responded to a call regarding a “death investigation.” Upon arrival, they found a homeless encampment occupying the north sidewalk of Cumpston.
Inside one of the tents, officers discovered a deceased man, later identified as Wesley Orso. Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced him dead at the scene. Orso was known to be a local resident experiencing homelessness.
Initially, investigators believed the death may have been due to an overdose, as narcotics paraphernalia was found at the scene. However, further examination revealed that the victim had suffered a gunshot wound.
