US Student who Falsified Admission to Cambridge University Claims Her Affinity for Elegance as Motive.

Caroline Calloway, a Virginia-born influencer who duped Cambridge University into admitting her by falsifying her qualifications, has now revealed that she did it out of love for “poshness” and a desire to experience upper-class English life. She gained fame through her Instagram posts during her time studying History of Art at St Edmund’s College, which depicted her luxurious lifestyle in Cambridge. Her picturesque photos of Cambridge life attracted thousands of fans, and she received a book deal worth $500,000 in 2015 to write her life story, but ultimately failed to deliver it. Her life unravelled in 2019 when a former friend exposed her lies and claimed responsibility for writing her famous Instagram captions. Calloway has since written a self-published memoir titled “Scammer” about her time at the university and repaid her book advance in full. Despite criticism, she has expressed pride in her story and her love for “poshness.”
