Urgent Call for an Impeachment Inquiry on Joe Biden – Comparing Historical Presidential Impeachments

Few things are as perilous as having our commander-in-chief corrupted and compromised by foreign powers, particularly by our adversaries. The mounting evidence suggests that President Joe Biden may indeed be such a corrupted and compromised figure. If House Republicans were to initiate an impeachment inquiry into Biden’s severe offenses, they would be fully justified in doing so. Compared to previous impeachments of Presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump, Biden’s alleged wrongdoing warrants greater scrutiny.

The Biden family, led by Hunter Biden, appears to have amassed millions of dollars through questionable business dealings with entities associated with the Chinese Communist Party and corrupt Ukrainian interests. Much of this money was acquired while Joe Biden served as vice president and oversaw policy in these regions. It is worth noting that none of the Bidens possessed any real expertise or experience in international business, including their spouses, girlfriends, and even their grandchild, all of whom received suspicious funds. An FBI informant file alleges that both Joe and Hunter Biden received $5 million in bribes.

The money was funneled through a complex network of shell companies, often in smaller increments, seemingly in an effort to obscure its origins and avoid scrutiny. A credible allegation suggests that each of the Bidens received $5 million bribes from the Ukrainian energy company, Burisma. The Justice Department allegedly withheld the document containing these claims from IRS investigators who were examining the president’s son. The Biden FBI only relinquished the document to congressional investigators when Director Christopher Wray faced a contempt proceeding. Hunter Biden entered a not guilty plea to federal charges after his plea deal collapsed on July 26, 2023.

The so-called “tax probe” involving Hunter Biden, which whistleblowers claim the Justice Department obstructed by refusing to pursue leads implicating Joe Biden, resulted in charges that were ultimately blocked by US attorneys appointed by the president. The specific authority of Delaware US Attorney David Weiss, whom Attorney General Merrick Garland neglected to replace with a special counsel, remains unclear. IRS whistleblowers were removed from the case as apparent retribution for exposing wrongdoing. A lenient plea deal with Hunter Biden was derailed by federal Judge Maryellen Noreika. By shielding his son from additional and more serious charges, the president’s subordinates effectively shielded the Biden family business from scrutiny. It is important to note that Joe Biden is solely responsible for the existence of this international influence-peddling operation since his power provided the leverage for his family’s business ventures. The fact that very little is known about the services they provided only strengthens this argument.

Despite mounting evidence, Joe Biden has consistently denied awareness of his family’s business activities, but if Hunter Biden’s former business partner, Devon Archer, were to testify before Congress, it is likely that this claim would be further contradicted. An impeachment inquiry would grant House Republicans powerful investigative tools to uncover what the Bidens earned, from whom, for what purpose, what the president knew, when he knew it, what actions he took, if any, to address the situation, whether he personally benefited, and whether he has been dishonest about it. Additionally, it would allow Congress to assess the extent to which the Bidens’ dealings have influenced Biden’s policies, revealing whether he is acting in the best interests of America or his own self-interest.

In its most extreme form, the president’s conduct could potentially involve bribery and even reach the level of treason, the only two specific impeachable offenses outlined in the Constitution. This stands in contrast to the previous three impeachments, which were based on various offenses deemed “high crimes and misdemeanors” by Congress. President Clinton faced impeachment for perjury and obstruction of justice in relation to the Paula Jones sexual-harassment lawsuit and his affair with Monica Lewinsky. President Trump’s first impeachment centered around the abuse of power and obstruction of Congress regarding the withholding of foreign aid to Ukraine, which was largely instigated by disagreements between Trump and his subordinates over foreign policy. In his second impeachment, Trump faced charges of inciting an insurrection in connection with the Capitol riot. Democrats might attempt to place the events of January 6th on par with Biden’s potential misdeeds. However, can a president truly incite when urging rally attendees to march “peacefully and patriotically”? Furthermore, how significant was this impeachment given that Trump had already left office?

Impeachment is a political remedy that House Republicans must carefully consider, weighing the costs and benefits. However, based on historical precedent and the gravity of the alleged misconduct by Joe Biden, pursuing impeachment is more than justified.
