There is no doubt that he was a well-loved child, evident through his purposeful gaze directly into the camera. Just imagine the heartbreak his mother must have felt as she packed his bag for the day, dressed him up, and dropped him off at the new day care center with a kiss goodbye. It’s a routine that working mothers across the city go through, trusting that the day care center they pay to care for their precious babies is safe. However, in this tragic case, the day care center doubled as a fentanyl factory.
The grieving mother, Zoila Dominici, 34, who works as an elderly caregiver, tearfully shared that Nicholas was incredibly intelligent and would repeat everything said to him. He was overflowing with love and was truly the little prince of their household. She expressed her gratitude for the time she had with him, despite the devastating loss. Nicholas’ father, Otoniel Feliz, mentioned that it was their son’s first week at the day care center, and his wife had planned to pick him up early because she missed him. Sadly, Nicholas was exposed to fentanyl, resulting in his tragic death. Another young boy and his 8-month-old sister also received doses of Narcan, an opioid overdose reversal drug, and they are currently hospitalized.
The owner of Divino Nino Daycare, Grei Mendez De Ventura, 36, and Carlisto Acevedo Brito, 41, are now facing multiple charges, including murder. Police discovered a kilo of fentanyl and a kilo press in a room rented by Brito, who reportedly recently arrived from the Dominican Republic. However, the blame doesn’t solely rest on De Ventura and Brito. There is a wider culpability in this tragic incident. President Biden’s policies regarding open borders have created a deadly situation. Not only are innocent individuals seeking a better life dying during the hazardous journey to cross illegally into the United States, but more than 100,000 Americans are also losing their lives each year due to drug overdoses from fentanyl supplied by Mexican drug cartels. Since Biden assumed office and dismantled Trump-era policies, over 8 million individuals have taken this as an invitation to enter the United States illegally. It is understandable why they would choose to migrate to a country offering better opportunities if they come from broken-down nations. They receive numerous benefits, such as free accommodation in luxurious Manhattan hotels, free education, free healthcare, free legal assistance, and more. The bounty is available for anyone willing to take it, leading to a massive influx of illegal migrants into New York. According to official statistics, more than 110,000 illegal migrants have arrived in the city within the past year alone.
This surge of illegal migrants has resulted in New Yorkers having to compete for limited resources. Schools are overwhelmed with non-English and non-Spanish speaking children, often facing additional learning difficulties. The frustration within the community is palpable, with citizens demanding the closure of the southern border. Angry New Yorkers confronted Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Representative Jerry Nadler during a press conference outside the Roosevelt Hotel, yelling at them to close the border and send the illegal immigrants back. The protesters expressed their concerns about illegal immigration stealing their votes, their children’s future, their birthright, and the overall wellbeing of their great city.
In the face of these mounting issues, New York City Mayor Eric Adams issued a dire warning that the migrant crisis will ultimately destroy the city. They see through the hypocrisy of individuals like AOC, who remain silent at the border while condemning the treatment of migrant children when it serves their political narrative.
