The eActros LongHaul, originally in development since 2020 and showcased as a prototype last year at the IAA Transportation expo, has been officially named the eActros 600. It has undergone range testing in Germany and is now being unveiled in series production form.
Equipped with three 207-kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery packs, the eActros 600 has an estimated range of over 500 km (310 miles) on a single charge. Mercedes-Benz Trucks recently demonstrated the real-world capabilities of this range by traveling 530 km (330 miles) from Stuttgart to Bolzano on one charge. The truck has an overall weight of 44 tons, including a 22-ton standard semitrailer.
The eActros 600 is designed to meet the needs of long-distance journeys within Europe, as around 60% of Mercedes-Benz Trucks customers’ trips are shorter than 500 km. This means that charging infrastructure at depots and loading/unloading points is typically sufficient for these types of journeys.
The eActros 600 is equipped with CCS charging that supports up to 400 kW. However, customers can choose to retrofit megawatt charging when it becomes available, allowing for an 80% battery charge in approximately 30 minutes. Fleet operators can track the vehicle’s location and monitor battery charge remotely through an online portal.
Powering the eActros 600 is an 800-volt electric axle with two motors delivering a peak output of 600 kW. The truck includes a 4-speed transmission and offers five levels of motor braking for energy regeneration. One-pedal driving is also possible, and the onboard system can adjust driving parameters based on the road conditions and traffic.
The truck features an electric-mechanical power take-off for operating hydraulic or mechanical equipment, as well as a DC or AC power take-off for refrigerated cargo applications.
