Unveiling the All-New Fisker Pear Electric Hatchback: A Closer Look at its Captivating Features

Just a few weeks ago, Fisker unveiled its electric lineup’s future at “Product Vision Day.” One of the highlights was the affordable Fisker Pear, intended to compete with the Chevy Bolt and Nissan Leaf with a sub-$30,000 price point. Although the Pear isn’t ready for prime time, Fisker has shared new details and accompanying photos of this budget-friendly EV.

The Pear will measure approximately 15 feet long (4550mm) and offer both five- and six-seater configurations, enhancing its flexibility and utility. The cargo section, cleverly named the “Houdini trunk,” allows easy access in tight parking or with low ceiling heights. Instead of swinging up and out like a typical hatch, the rear glass section opens downward into the rear load floor. The inclusion of exterior camera mirrors is under review due to regulatory requirements.

Now, let’s talk about the “froot.” It’s like a frunk, but with a British twist – or vegetarian. The Pear features a sealed front storage compartment designed for isolating items from the cabin, such as sweaty workout gear or pungent leftovers. Fisker even offers an insulated option for storing temperature-sensitive items, making it suitable for gig drivers. The cabin itself is built to be highly durable, eliminating fragile moving parts. This design is advantageous for families, ride-share drivers, and Fisker as a manufacturer, as it avoids the need for expensive physical controls.

The Pear will also have a “Lounge Mode,” allowing all seats to fold completely flat, creating a relaxation or sleeping area. Plus, there’s a rotating 17-inch screen for entertainment while stretched out. The six-seater option replaces the single front passenger seat and center console with a large two-seat bench.

Fisker is close to finalizing the Pear’s electric range, aiming for up to 320 miles on the high end, a revise from the initial target of 310 miles based on the EPA test cycle. The smaller city-oriented battery pack, expected to come standard at the Pear’s $29,990 starting price, is projected to offer a range of 180 miles on a single charge.
