GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Green Bay Packers kick off their regular season with a game against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. The Soldier Field in Chicago will undoubtedly be filled with Packers pride.
Packers fans express their love for the team in various ways, and one of the most iconic ways is by wearing the green and gold jersey.
It’s a classic combination for Packers fans: a cheeshead and a jersey. As one of the oldest NFL teams, the Packers have a large and devoted fan base.
Christa Jorgensen, the director of retail for the Green Bay Packers, explained that ordering team jerseys well in advance is necessary for the season opener.
“We recently placed an order that will start delivering in July, right before training camp next season,” Jorgensen revealed.
Surprisingly, the Packers only sell three core jerseys, as Jorgensen shared.
“We have our 50s classic, our green home jersey, and our white away jersey,” she said.
For new starting quarterback Jordan Love and other young players, Jorgensen mentioned that they order jerseys once they have been drafted and assigned NFL digits.
“As soon as we have a league official number, we can start customizing the jerseys,” Jorgensen added.
If your favorite player’s jersey is not available on the racks, Jorgensen assured that you could always have their jersey customized at the counter.
Derek Dimmer, the manager of the customer press counter, explained that they can create a jersey for any roster name.
“If you want a player that we don’t have yet or don’t carry, we can customize their name and number right here, and it will be just like the jerseys we sell on the floor,” Dimmer stated.
The Pro Shop can make any unique jersey. Sometimes, customers request custom jerseys featuring pop stars like Taylor Swift and her favorite number, 13.
“If someone comes in and wants their own name, number, or wants to commemorate a special anniversary or anything else, we can do that with our custom press,” Dimmer explained.
For those wondering about buying a different jersey when the Packers make it to the big game, Jorgensen assured that it won’t be necessary.
“The jersey we sell in the store today is the same as the one we would sell during the Super Bowl,” she clarified.
Jorgensen emphasized that the goal is to never run out of jerseys at the Packers Pro Shop.
