Unveiling Deep Insights: A Sneak Peek into Dick’s Remarkable Observations at the Raptors Training Camp

BURNABY, B.C. – Gradey Dick is immersing himself in the experience.

Taking part in his first NBA pre-season camp in Burnaby, B.C., Dick, the Raptors’ 13th overall pick from the 2023 draft, is eager to learn and grow.

In regards to his time at training camp, Dick stated, “The change has been great for me personally.” He also expressed his goal of being a sponge and soaking up as much knowledge as possible.

During his freshman year at the University of Kansas, Dick averaged 14.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. He also set a program record for a freshman with 83 three-pointers made.

Transitioning from college to the professional game has presented a learning curve for Dick. He highlighted the differences in court spacing and the angle of passes as adjustments he’s been working on.

Dick has received support and mentorship from veteran players like Garrett Temple, Thad Young, and Otto Porter Jr. during training camp. Temple, in particular, has taken Dick under his wing, emphasizing the importance of guiding and teaching rookies within the league.

Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic expressed his satisfaction with Temple’s mentorship of Dick. Dennis Schroder, another new addition to the Raptors, has also played a role in mentoring the young player.
