A Washington DC victim fell prey to the Apple operating software exposure, as it allowed NSO Group’s Pegasus spyware, one of the most invasive spying technologies, to infiltrate their iPhone. This alarming discovery was made by researchers at Citizen Lab from the University of Toronto.

Confirmed Spyware Access on Apple Devices

According to Citizen Lab, the latest version of Apple’s mobile software, iOS 16.6, enables bad actors to compromise iPhones without any victim interaction. Apple has acknowledged this significant security flaw in their software fix note.

Apple has issued a warning regarding the impact of these vulnerabilities, stating that “Processing a maliciously crafted image may lead to arbitrary code execution.” They have also acknowledged the possible exploitation of attachments, explaining that “A maliciously crafted attachment may result in arbitrary code execution.”

Mac Software Update

  3. Go to Settings > General > Software Update and tap Install Now.

Apple WatchOS Update

  1. Launch the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
  2. Go to My Watch > General > Software Update and tap update and install.

Alternatively, you can access the Settings icon on your Apple Watch, tap General, and then Software Update.
