Today, it is revealed that eighteen local councils in the UK are generating more than £1 million a year through motoring fines on certain streets.

Town halls in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Brighton, and Bristol are making thousands of pounds daily from drivers who unintentionally enter bus lanes or take wrong turns.

In Dulwich Village, southeast London, 43,108 penalty notices were issued for traffic restriction violations, resulting in £2.9 million in fines.

Similarly, Birmingham’s Bull Ring Moor Street scheme fined motorists £10,000 a day for driving in a bus lane, totaling 65,755 fines.

Additionally, a bus lane on Oxford Street in Manchester accumulated approximately £1.7 million in charges.
