WORCESTER – The Worcester County District Attorney has identified a suspect wanted in connection with a fatal shooting on the campus of Worcester State University.
Authorities are searching for 18-year-old Kevin Rodriguez, a former resident of Lawrence. He is wanted on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and armed assault with intent to murder. The DA has labeled him as armed and dangerous, and urges anyone who sees him to immediately call 911.
The fatal shooting occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning around 2:30 a.m. during a fight near a parking garage on campus. Following the incident, students were instructed to seek shelter.
A 19-year-old man was killed in the shooting, and a 21-year-old man was injured. The victims’ identities have not been released. During a press conference on Saturday, the DA stated that the shooting does not appear to be random.
According to the police, neither the victims nor the suspects are students at Worcester State University. As a result of the incident, all weekend activities, including homecoming and family weekend, have been canceled. Counseling services are also available to any students in need.
