Unlock Your Future: This Lady Claims to Predict Your Destiny Through the Power of Cheese

Have you ever wondered if the provolone in your fridge can predict the future? Or if that wheel of Stilton is a skilled soothsayer? While you may not have the answers, Jennifer Billock claims that she does. Born and raised in Chicago, Billock calls herself an expert in tyromancy, an ancient practice that involves divining the past, present, and future through cheese omens. “Each piece of cheese has something to reveal about itself and about you,” explains the 40-year-old dairy diviner in an interview with Reuters. Billock first discovered this unique form of fortune-telling during the early days of the pandemic when she searched for “strange methods of predicting the future” on Google.

According to Billock, not every type of cheese is suitable for her craft. “You need cheese with holes, veins, ash, or even moldy pieces for the best results. Flat Gruyere, for example, wouldn’t work well,” she states. Billock’s preferred choices are blue cheese and Swiss, as they offer optimal mediums for her predictions. While she encourages clients to bring their own cheese, as they may have a personal connection to it, she is also open to using her own selection. Billock delightfully exclaims, “I really enjoy it, I love cheese. It’s great because you get your fortune told and then you get to eat it!” She admits that she doesn’t receive many follow-up calls, leaving her uncertain about the accuracy of her predictions.
