Unleashing the Power of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3: In-Depth Benchmarks and Analysis

The CPU and GPU remain the central focus of this device. However, there have been some changes in their configuration. The CPU consists of eight cores, with the first cluster featuring a primary core (Cortex X4) running at 3.3 GHz. This is accompanied by five performance cores (all Cortex A720), three operating at speeds of up to 3.2 GHz and two at speeds of up to 3.0 GHz. The third cluster consists of two efficiency cores (Cortex A520) running at up to 2.3 GHz.

Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to conduct our own benchmarks for this year. Instead, Qualcomm has shared benchmark results with us for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. In previous years, the results provided by Qualcomm were consistent with our own. This year, the benchmarks are based on the Qualcomm Reference Design (QRD), which includes a 6.65-inch AMOLED display (2,340 x 1,080 pixels, with a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz), 24 GB of LPDDR5x RAM, and 512 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The device is powered by a 4,192 mAh battery and runs on the Android 14 operating system.

The CPU performance is impressive, with single-core performance in Geekbench 6.1 falling behind the Apple A17 Pro. However, when all cores are utilized, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 takes the lead. Compared to its predecessor, this new Qualcomm SoC shows a significant improvement, with a performance boost of up to 57 percent.

In AnTuTu, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 demonstrates a substantial increase in performance, easily surpassing the iPhone 15 Pro Max. This is primarily attributed to its significantly stronger GPU performance.
