Unleashing the Power: Exploring the Most Powerful Animation Horror Show

After a period of silence in movie theaters, four films made their wide release debut over the weekend. Notably, the performances of these films—PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie, Saw X, The Creator, and Dumb Money—highlighted a familiar trend at the box office. The winners? Horror and animated franchises. The losers? Originality and comedy. PAW Patrol, produced by Paramount Pictures and Spin Master, had impeccable timing, being the first family animated film to hit theaters since the release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem in early August, according to the Associated Press.

Saw X rebounded from the previous installment’s disappointing performance, generating $18 million in its opening weekend for Lionsgate. The 2021 film Spiral had debuted with just $8.8 million and had a total domestic gross of $23.3 million. In contrast, the 10th Saw film experienced the franchise’s best opening weekend in over a decade, receiving positive audience ratings. On the other hand, The Creator had the largest release among the films in theaters during the weekend but struggled to gain popularity. It managed to earn a modest $14 million across 3,680 theaters domestically, along with an additional $18.3 million internationally. Sony Pictures’ Dumb Money expanded its release nationwide after being in limited release for two weeks. However, it failed to ignite the kind of mass appeal that it humorously portrays. Unfortunately, the film only earned a disappointing $3.5 million across 2,837 locations.

Here are the estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at theaters in the US and Canada, according to Comscore. The final domestic figures will be released on Monday.

  1. PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie – $23 million
  2. Saw X – $18 million
  3. The Creator – $14 million
  4. The Nun II – $4.7 million
  5. The Blind – $4.1 million
  6. A Haunting in Venice – $3.8 million
  7. Dumb Money – $3.5 million
  8. The Equalizer – $2.7 million
  9. Expend4bles – $2.5 million
  10. Barbie – $1.4 million
