MIAMI, Sept. 27 (UPI) — For Week 4 of the fantasy football season, I have identified Noah Fant as one of the top four must-start tight ends.
Before finalizing your lineups, be sure to check out my updated rankings for quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers, as well as any injury updates that may affect player availability.
T.J. Hockenson, Travis Kelce, Sam LaPorta, Dallas Goedert, and Mark Andrews headline my Top 20 rankings for Week 4. Evan Engram, George Kittle, David Njoku, Darren Waller, and Luke Musgrave complete the Top 10.
Joining LaPorta, Musgrave, and Fant as must-start options for Week 4 is Dawson Knox.
Sam LaPorta
LaPorta has been the second-best tight end in fantasy football this season after T.J. Hockenson. In his first three games, the Detroit Lions rookie saw 11 targets. In Week 3, he exploded with eight catches for 84 yards and a touchdown against the Atlanta Falcons.
LaPorta is currently the second-most targeted tight end in the NFL and led the position in fantasy points in Week 3. He is primed to continue his elite production when the Lions face the Green Bay Packers on Thursday.
Expect LaPorta to receive at least eight targets against the Packers, translating into 80 yards and a touchdown. He is my No. 3 tight end for Week 4.
Luke Musgrave
Musgrave, another promising rookie, is a recommended starter in leagues that require a tight end. Although he hasn’t scored a touchdown yet, he has averaged over 41 yards per game in the first three weeks.
In Week 3, Musgrave saw a season-high eight targets, resulting in six catches for 49 yards against the New Orleans Saints. In Week 4, he faces a Lions defense that has allowed the most receiving yards and catches to tight ends so far.
With the Lions struggling against tight ends, Musgrave could tally six catches for 60 yards and potentially score his first career touchdown. Currently, he ranks as my No. 10 tight end.
Dawson Knox
Knox is my No. 13 option and an excellent streaming choice for Week 4. The Buffalo Bills will face the Miami Dolphins, a team that has surrendered the eighth-most fantasy points to tight ends.
Although Knox has only managed 46 receiving yards in his first three games, he is poised to see an increased workload this week. With the Dolphins focusing on stopping the Bills’ running game and outside receivers, Knox could benefit from shorter routes and check-down passes from quarterback Josh Allen.
While Knox’s production may depend on scoring a touchdown, he should see more targets and has the potential for a breakout game.
Noah Fant
Fant had a slow start in Week 1 but has caught four passes in each of his last two games, accumulating 97 yards during that span.
In Week 4, Fant and the Seattle Seahawks will face the New York Giants, who have allowed the second-most receiving yards (189) to tight ends this season. Both George Kittle and Zach Ertz had productive games against the Giants’ defense in Weeks 2 and 3, respectively.
Look for Fant to have a similar impact, generating at least 50 receiving yards. He currently ranks as my No. 14 tight end for Week 4.
