The Los Angeles Department of Animal Services is excited to participate in the upcoming National Playgroup Rockstars Adoption event on Saturday. This event is a wonderful opportunity for the public to meet and interact with our social dogs.
A total of 39 animal shelters across the country, including the East Valley Animal Services Center located at 14409 Vanowen St, will be participating in the Playgroup Rockstars Adoption event. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., dogs will be placed in groups where they can play and showcase their unique personalities.
For those who choose to adopt a Rockstar dog during the event, adoption fees will be waived.
“The National Playgroup Rockstars event is a fantastic platform to highlight some of our larger dogs that may have a harder time finding homes. It also demonstrates the positive impact that our volunteers and partner organizations have on the lives of the animals under our care as they embark on their journey to new homes,” stated Staycee Dains, General Manager for Animal Services.
This unique adoption event is designed to not only help shelter dogs find loving homes, but also to promote the importance of playgroups. Partners such as Petco Love, Dogs Playing for Life, and BOBS from Skechers will be assisting in the event.
Dogs Playing for Life has created a special playgroup shelter dog enrichment program with the motto “Every Dog, Every Day, Let Them Play.” The goal is to ensure that shelter pets have a positive experience during their time at the shelter, while providing shelter staff with valuable information to help these pets find their forever homes.
Aimee Sadler, founder of Dogs Playing for Life, says, “Events like Playgroup Rockstars allow dogs to have fun with each other and showcase their playful nature and true personalities. When people visit the shelter and witness the dogs in action, they can better envision these dogs as part of their families.”
For those who already own dogs, this event may provide an opportunity to find the perfect companion for their pets. For those considering adopting two dogs, the event staff can help find a compatible pair.
