Uncovering the Shocking Arrest of an Armed Individual at a Memorable RFK Jr. Event

Authorities have revealed the identity of a man who allegedly posed as a U.S. marshal and carried a weapon at a National Hispanic Heritage Month event attended by Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The suspect, Adrian Paul Aispuro, 44, has been charged with a felony gun offense and is currently in custody with a bail set at $35,000, as stated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Inmate Information Center.

Aispuro was apprehended by officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire station on Friday at 4:40 p.m., following a reported disturbance at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in the Mid-Wilshire area. Officer Drake Madison informed City News Service that the police received a call about the incident around 4:30 p.m.

During the arrest, law enforcement officers discovered that Aispuro had been impersonating a U.S. marshal and claiming to be part of Kennedy’s security team. Officer Madison mentioned that Aispuro did not make any threats or cause any harm to others.

According to the police, the suspect was wearing a U.S. Marshals Service badge on a lanyard and was armed with two handguns.

Officer Madison stated that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was notified, but the decision was made for the LAPD to handle the arrest and investigation.

On Friday, Kennedy expressed his gratitude towards Gavin de Becker and Associates (GDBA) for swiftly identifying and detaining the armed man who attempted to approach him during his Hispanic Heritage speech at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre. Kennedy mentioned that the individual was wearing two shoulder holsters with loaded pistols and possessed a U.S. Marshal badge and federal ID. GDBA team members acted promptly to isolate and detain the suspect until LAPD arrived to make the arrest. Kennedy also thanked the LAPD for their swift response.

Kennedy added, “I still hope that President Biden will grant me Secret Service protection.”

It is worth noting that Kennedy’s previous request for Secret Service protection in July was denied by federal officials. Under U.S. law, “major” presidential candidates are eligible for protection during the primary season. The decision on who receives this protection lies with the secretary of Homeland Security, in consultation with a bipartisan committee of House and Senate leaders.

The Wilshire Ebell Theatre holds significance as it is less than 2 miles away from the Ambassador Hotel, where Kennedy’s father, U.S. Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, was assassinated on June 5, 1968.
