MIAMI, Sept. 13 (UPI) — Geno Smith is one of my top picks for fantasy football quarterbacks to start in Week 2.

Make sure to check out my Week 2 rankings and waiver wire recommendations for running backs, tight ends, and wide receivers to help you prepare. I will continue to update my positional rankings to account for any developments, including injuries.

Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles and Kirk Cousins of the Minnesota Vikings, who played on Thursday, have been removed from my rankings.

Leading my Top 20 positional rankings is Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen. Justin Fields and Baker Mayfield are also must-start options. If you need a replacement for the injured Aaron Rodgers of the New York Jets, my rankings offer some streaming options.

Each of my must-start selections falls within the Top 14 of my quarterback rankings.

Justin Fields

Like Hurts, Fields offers great value as both a passer and a runner, but his performance was limited in Week 1. This week, Fields and the Chicago Bears are up against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Buccaneers allowed the second-most passing touchdowns (29) last season and gave up 344 yards and two touchdowns to Kirk Cousins of the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1.

Fields, my number 5 option, threw for 216 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 59 yards in Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers. I anticipate Fields throwing for 250 yards or more and rushing for over 100 yards against the Buccaneers this weekend. If he can find the end zone multiple times, he could be the top quarterback for the week.

Geno Smith

Smith is my number 10 pick for Week 2. The Seattle Seahawks quarterback threw for just 112 yards and a touchdown on 16 passing attempts in Week 1, but I expect him to be much more productive against the Detroit Lions in Week 2.

The Lions allowed the most fantasy points to quarterbacks in 2022. Despite playing without star tight end Travis Kelce and receiving poor performances from other pass catchers, they surrendered two passing touchdowns to Patrick Mahomes in Week 1.

Last season, Smith threw for 320 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 49 yards and a touchdown against the Lions. I believe he will throw multiple touchdown passes and provide low-end QB1 value in leagues with at least 12 teams.

Baker Mayfield

Mayfield may not be a quarterback you start every week, but he is worth considering for Week 2. Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will host the Chicago Bears in Tampa, Fla.

The Bears allowed three touchdown passes from Jordan Love of the Green Bay Packers in Week 1. They also surrendered the sixth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks last season.

In Week 1, Mayfield spread completions almost evenly to Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. I expect him to connect with these star wide receivers again in Week 2. Mayfield is my number 11 option and can serve as a great replacement starter if you lost Rodgers from your lineup.
