Back in the car with her roommate, Osterhoudt decided to check who the designer was. She discovered that the dress was made by Galia Lahav, a well-known fashionista whose wedding dresses typically cost over $6,000. Osterhoudt showcases the form-fitting dress in her video and mentions that it fits her perfectly.
Osterhoudt’s TikTok video quickly went viral, garnering over 3.8 million views since she posted it on Sept. 6. The story caught the attention of Galia Lahav herself, who was inspired by the purchase. Lahav decided to donate five to ten more of her wedding dresses to Goodwill locations across the US. She hopes that others will experience the thrill of finding a surprise like Osterhoudt did. A representative from Lahav’s team expressed excitement about the opportunity to play fairy godmother and create more Cinderella moments through the donations.
As for Osterhoudt, she has no plans to sell the dress despite receiving offers from interested parties. The 21-year-old nursing student at the University of Alabama at Birmingham intends to wear the dress on her own wedding day. While she initially didn’t anticipate getting married soon, she and her boyfriend, Nick, have discussed the possibility of getting engaged next spring, according to ABC News. Osterhoudt hopes she will still be able to fit into the dress by then.
