Ultimate Travel Companion: Explore with Confidence in $10K Mercedes Sprinter Stealth Camper Equipped with Security Cams, Kitchen, and Bathroom

Parked on the street, you wouldn’t believe this vehicle is a stealth camper. On the outside, it appears to be a simple, unremarkable white van commonly used by tradespeople and delivery drivers worldwide. But inside, it offers a fully-equipped living space complete with a kitchen and bathroom.

This remarkable van is a 2004 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter with 229,000 miles on the clock. Astonishingly, it was built for under $10,000. Sharrieff Fareed provides a comprehensive tour of the conversion on his captivating YouTube channel, DualEx, showcasing every innovative detail of the cozy living area.

Internally, this van features a fully-equipped kitchen with running water. Towards the rear, an entertainment area can be converted into a comfortable bedroom. While the cab remains largely original, a rear and side view screen has been added, providing valuable assistance while driving. This camera system also functions as a security measure to monitor the van when it’s parked.

One of the standout features is the passenger seat, which can swivel around to become a practical workstation. Behind it, a desk slides out from a cabinet and provides ample space for a laptop and other essential remote work equipment. When closed, the desk adds extra counter space to the kitchen.

The kitchen area boasts features that would make any homeowner envious. Custom cabinets offer plentiful storage, including a dedicated drawer for utensils. The propane stove features a convenient glass top for additional counter space when not in use. A compact sink includes a cutting board cover and a drying rack. Adjacent to the sliding door, a cabinet serves as a mud closet and incorporates a pullout for a trash can.

Fareed has incorporated lessons from previous builds by significantly improving insulation and ventilation in the van. The floor benefits from an inch and a half of foam insulation, along with a plywood subfloor. The walls and ceiling are covered with an inch and a half of batting insulation, resulting in a noticeable improvement in interior temperature during the construction process.

Although not as large as the recent Izuzu box truck or Mitsubishi Fuso we covered, this conversion is equally ingenious and maximizes the available space to its fullest potential. Moreover, its smaller size makes it more convenient for parking and easier to blend in unnoticed.
