Ukrainian Military Achieves Milestone: Second Group Trained on Patriot Systems in Germany

Germany has successfully trained the second group of Ukraine’s Armed Forces to operate the Patriot air defense system. The training, supervised by Bundeswehr Lieutenant General Andreas Marlow, lasted over six weeks and equipped about 70 soldiers and officers from Ukraine with the competence to independently work with the system and perform air defense tasks.

According to Marlow, the protection of Ukraine’s airspace is crucial due to deliberate Russian strikes targeting civilian infrastructure. He also mentioned that tactical advice received from Ukrainian officers who have battled Russians is influencing the Bundeswehr’s operational principles.

Experienced Ukrainian anti-aircraft officers, many of whom have previously operated Soviet air defense systems such as the S-300, participated in the program. Additionally, Germany is set to deliver another Patriot air defense system to Ukraine in the winter, adding to the arsenal of IRIS-T systems that were promised in previous announcements.
