UK Prosecutor Labels Kevin Spacey as a ‘Sexual Bully’

Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey is currently on trial in London for sexual assault, and the prosecutor made strong allegations against him during her opening statement. She described Spacey as a man who lacks respect for personal boundaries and enjoys making others feel powerless and uncomfortable. The prosecutor also claimed that Spacey’s preferred method of assault is to aggressively grab other men in their private areas.

Spacey, who is facing a dozen charges involving four men, has pleaded not guilty to all allegations. His defense lawyer argued that the alleged victims may have other motives and suggested that Spacey’s decision to come out as gay in 2020 made him vulnerable to opportunistic individuals.

During the trial, the jury will hear testimonies from the alleged victims, who were targeted by Spacey between 2001 and 2013, during his tenure as the artistic director of London’s Old Vic Theatre. The men, who were not acquainted with each other, all had the unfortunate experience of attracting Spacey’s attention.

One victim recounted how Spacey frequently groped him against his will, culminating in an incident where the actor forcefully grabbed his crotch while the victim was driving, almost causing an accident. When confronted, Spacey found amusement in the victim’s anger.

The prosecutor argued that Spacey seemed confident that the men wouldn’t speak out about the assaults, relying on his celebrity status to discredit any potential accuser. She pointed out that none of the victims wanted to be touched by Spacey in a sexual manner, but he disregarded their feelings in pursuit of his own gratification.

Another alleged victim, who sought career advice from Spacey, found himself in the actor’s London apartment in 2008. After drinking beer and smoking marijuana, the victim either fell asleep or passed out, only to wake up and find Spacey performing oral sex on him. Spacey instructed him not to disclose what had happened and not to mention his presence in the apartment. The victim left in shock, crying at a nearby bus stop, and only reported the incident to the police in 2017.

Kevin Spacey’s career suffered a significant blow when he faced sexual misconduct allegations amidst the #MeToo movement. He was removed from the Netflix series “House of Cards” and had his scenes in the film “All the Money in the World” reshot with a different actor.

Now, Spacey’s fate lies in the hands of a jury comprised of nine men and five women, who will determine whether he is guilty of the charges. Throughout the trial, he will be referred to by his full name, Kevin Spacey Fowler. The actor, who has homes in both London and the U.S., is currently out on bail.

Despite the controversy surrounding him, Spacey remains a celebrated actor, having earned numerous accolades throughout his career. He recently appeared in an Italian film and played the role of the late Croatian President Franjo Tudjman in a biopic. Spacey has expressed his belief that he will find work again if he is acquitted of the charges against him.

As the trial unfolds, the jurors will need to assess the credibility of the alleged victims and determine whether they are telling the truth or fabricating their claims for personal gain.
