Mexico’s Congress held its first-ever hearing on unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs), showcasing a pair of alien “bodies” brought by UFO enthusiast Jaime Maussan. According to Maussan, the specimens were discovered in Peru in 2017 and have been carbon-dated to be between 700 and 1,800 years old. This unique presentation aims to demonstrate that these non-human specimens are distinct from any known species on Earth. Maussan encourages scientific institutions to investigate further.
The small figures bear a resemblance to the iconic E.T. character from Hollywood, featuring an elongated neck, thin appendages, and three fingers on each hand. It’s worth noting that Maussan has previously made similar claims about alien remains, which were later debunked as mummified children in 2015.
The hearing primarily focuses on the Aerial Space Protection Law, which, if enacted, would become the world’s first national law to acknowledge extraterrestrial life. Ryan Graves, a retired U.S. Navy pilot actively participating in U.S. Congressional hearings on UAPs, also addressed the Mexican Congress, emphasizing the need for serious consideration and transparency regarding these phenomena in the interest of aerospace safety and scientific exploration.
Graves himself claims to have witnessed UAPs during his time as a Navy pilot. He stressed the importance of public education, dispelling stigma, and working toward greater transparency and disclosure regarding UAPs. This bipartisan effort in the U.S. is led by a group of House members focused on the issue, who have requested the formation of a select committee with subpoena power to question military leaders who they feel haven’t adequately addressed their inquiries. Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) expressed frustration with the federal government’s handling of the matter, citing it as a breeding ground for conspiracy theories.
In late August, the Department of Defense launched a website to collect and track reports of UAP sightings. This ongoing focus on UAPs highlights the continued efforts toward government transparency, scientific investigation, and public awareness.
Overall, the hearing and display of the alleged alien bodies in Mexico City generated substantial interest and intrigue. It remains to be seen how the discussions surrounding the Aerial Space Protection Law and UAP research will develop both in Mexico and globally.
