Ubisoft, the publisher behind games like Assassin’s Creed and Rainbow Six Siege, is making a significant foray into blockchain gaming. This time, they are teaming up with crypto infrastructure and gaming company Immutable to develop a “Web3 gaming experience.”
The partnership aims to create a new gaming experience that fully leverages the potential of Web3. Immutable is known for its Immutable X layer-2 blockchain, which is utilized by games like Gods Unchained and Guild of Guardians for their NFT integrations.
Nicolas Pouard, the VP of Ubisoft Strategic Innovation Lab, expressed excitement about the seamless integrations offered by Immutable, allowing game developers to effortlessly add crypto elements to their projects. He believes this will enhance the overall gaming experience for players.
James Ferguson, CEO and co-founder of Immutable, emphasized their commitment to providing players with “digital ownership” through this collaboration. He is confident that the partnership will introduce a fresh and beloved gaming experience.
While details about the specific project remain scarce, it could potentially involve a new blockchain game, integration of Immutable into an existing Ubisoft game, or a gamified experience offering players a chance to earn NFTs.
When questioned about the project details, a representative for Immutable referred to future announcements for additional information.
This venture is not Ubisoft’s first involvement in NFTs and NFT gaming. In the past, the company released NFTs inspired by the Rabbids game, launched free Tezos NFTs for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, and initiated a tactical RPG, Champions Tactics, on the Oasys blockchain.
