According to Acting Police Superintendent Sunny Patel, the shooting began at approximately 7:20 a.m., with the gunman targeting people within the building. After additional shots were fired, the gunman was found deceased in the elevator shaft. Whether he was shot by law enforcement or died by his own hand remains uncertain.
Patel emphasized that while the incident was alarming, it was contained and did not pose a nationwide security threat. He sought to reassure the public that this was an isolated incident and not indicative of a larger pattern of violence.

Despite the disturbance caused by a helicopter hovering near their hotel, Team Norway’s captain, Maren Mjelde, expressed confidence in the security measures in place. She stated that FIFA had a robust security system at the hotel, and the team also had their own security officer.
