Two homes replaced Joe Pesci’s demolished residence in NJ

Joe Pesci, the renowned actor, has recently sold his long-standing New Jersey home and the property has been demolished to make way for two new homes, according to sources. Pesci, who is now 80 years old, sold the distinctive vintage-style home in December 2021 for a staggering $5 million. He had originally purchased the property in 1994 for $850,000.

Situated on a small island in the beautiful Jersey Shore town of Lavallette, the beachfront Art Deco home, which was built in 1990, stood out among its neighboring houses with its unique design reminiscent of a spaceship. New photos reveal that a year after the property was purchased by the new owners, the home was torn down, with the intention of dividing the land into two separate plots.

The new owners wasted no time in beginning construction, as one of the parcels already has a completed home with a double boat dock. This home was sold in October for an impressive $2.7 million. The remaining property, located at 91 Pershing Blvd., features a stunning three-story, single-family home, with a tastefully neutral color scheme. Mature trees adorn the land, which also boasts a pool, spa, and putting green. Whether or not the DiTarantos, the new owners, plan on listing the property for sale or keeping it for themselves remains to be seen. Attempts to reach out to Richard DiTaranto for comment have been made.

It is currently unclear where Joe Pesci has relocated to, although it is rumored that he may have another home in the township of Brick, associated with his trust. The Post has reached out to his representatives for confirmation and comment.

The new property seamlessly blends in with the surrounding neighborhood, thanks to its thoughtful design. Gone is the previously iconic spaceship-like house, and in its place stands a home that subtly complements the area.

The original home that was demolished, owned by Pesci, boasted eight bedrooms, eight bathrooms, and encompassed a spacious 7,000 square feet. Prior to selling, the “Goodfellas” star found himself in a dispute with his Jersey Shore neighbors over the length of their proposed docks. Pesci penned a letter opposing the construction of two docks that would have extended 315 feet into Barnegat Bay, urging state officials to intervene. The waterfront property, located on West Point Island, had undergone various upgrades, including the addition of a private elevator, luxury bathroom, and an open-floor plan, as per the listing. The living room was adorned with two guitars, a piano, two director’s chairs, and a collection of old movie posters, creating a unique and nostalgic ambiance.

The former kitchen, along with a fully equipped catering kitchen, featured built-in china cabinets, a 70-bottle wine rack, and an additional wine cooler. The dining room, connected to the kitchen, showcased breathtaking bay views and a stunning three-tiered gold lighting fixture.

The primary en-suite bedroom boasted a private balcony and a dedicated office space. Other amenities of the property included a patio surrounding a heated pool and spa. However, the most memorable feature of the Art Deco mansion was undoubtedly the media room, which showcased at least 24 movie posters of Pesci’s famous films, including “Goodfellas,” “Casino,” “My Cousin Vinny,” “A Bronx Tale,” “Home Alone,” and “Eureka,” among others. The two-part open living room also boasted old movie posters, a display case for memorabilia, two guitars, and an amplifier.

Joe Pesci, a native of Newark, made a comeback in 2019 with the critically acclaimed Netflix film “The Irishman,” for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He recently showcased his acting skills as Pete Davidson’s grumpy, yet lovable, grandpa in the new Peacock series “Bupkis.” Interestingly, Pesci announced his retirement in 1999, just five years after purchasing the waterfront home.
