Twitter has introduced a new requirement for users to have an account in order to view tweets. Owner Elon Musk described this as a “temporary emergency measure”. Users attempting to access content on the platform will be prompted to sign up or log in to view their favorite tweets. Musk explained that this change was necessary because excessive data scraping was degrading the service for regular users. Numerous organizations have been aggressively scraping Twitter data, negatively impacting the user experience.

Musk has previously expressed his dissatisfaction with artificial intelligence firms using Twitter’s data. He stated that legal action will be taken against those who have stolen their data, with an anticipated court case within the next 2 to 3 years.
