Trump’s Outburst Indicates Fear of Pence, Claims Paul Begala

Democratic strategist Paul Begala suggests that Donald Trump’s recent confrontation with Mike Pence on social media indicates that Trump is afraid of what Pence might reveal under oath. Begala, a CNN commentator, refers to the saying, “A hit dog will holler,” emphasizing that Trump only attacks those he fears. He points out that Trump has never criticized Pence before because Pence’s polling numbers are low, but now Trump is suddenly afraid of him. Begala believes that Pence would testify against Trump in his election conspiracy trial and that Trump is attacking him out of fear.

Begala’s comments come in response to Trump’s post on Truth Social, where he accuses Pence of turning against him. Last week, Trump was charged with four federal felonies for his attempts to overturn the 2020 election. Evidence in the indictment includes Pence’s “contemporaneous notes” of conversations with Trump. The indictment reveals that on January 1, 2021, Trump told Pence he was “too honest” for not supporting his scheme to stay in power. Pence has been critical of Trump, particularly regarding the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol. Since the indictment, Pence has accused Trump and his lawyers of pressuring him to reject electoral votes for President Joe Biden.

Pence is also a potential presidential candidate for 2024 and currently polls at around 5% compared to Trump’s 53%. Trump, on the other hand, has faced three indictments this year, one related to hush money payments to an adult film star, and another regarding classified documents. He is set to face trial for these charges next year.
