Donald Trump’s recent statements reveal a fixation on hell and damnation.
In two separate rants on Sunday, the former president targeted Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and the U.S. women’s national soccer team, using fiery language reminiscent of the underworld.
First, Trump aimed his attack at Pelosi, responding to her comment that he appeared like a “scared puppy” during his arraignment last week on charges of election obstruction and conspiracy. In a post on his Truth Social website, he proclaimed, “I wasn’t ‘scared.’ Nevertheless, how cruel of her to say! She is a Wicked Witch whose husbands journey from hell starts and finishes with her. She is a sick & demented psycho who will someday live in HELL!”
But Trump’s hellish rhetoric didn’t stop there.
When the U.S. women’s soccer team was eliminated from the World Cup later that day, the former president, along with many others on the right, expressed a strange sense of satisfaction.
He declared the loss to be “fully emblematic of what is happening to our once great Nation under Crooked Joe Biden” and accused the players of being openly hostile towards the country.
“WOKE EQUALS FAILURE,” he wrote, taking a shot at star player Megan Rapinoe. “Nice shot Megan, the USA is going to Hell!!!”
Trump’s critics promptly responded to his hell-raising remarks:
