Trump’s bail set at $200K in Georgia election interference lawsuit

According to court papers filed today, Donald Trump’s bond has been set at $200,000 in the Georgia case where he is accused of illegally scheming to overturn his 2020 election loss.

The bond agreement, signed by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and Trump’s defense attorneys, includes provisions that prevent Trump from intimidating co-defendants, witnesses, or victims in the case, both in person and on social media.

The order explicitly states that Trump cannot make any direct or indirect threats against witnesses or co-defendants, including sharing or reposting harmful content on social media. Additionally, Trump is prohibited from discussing the facts of the case with any co-defendant or witness, except through his attorneys.

For the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) charge, Trump’s bond is set at $80,000, with an additional $10,000 for each of the other 12 counts he is facing.

Fani Willis has given Trump and his 18 co-defendants until noon on Friday to turn themselves in at the Fulton County Jail to be booked.

Last week, Trump was charged in this case alongside allies accused of conspiring to undermine the will of voters in an attempt to retain power after losing to Joe Biden. Trump has consistently denied any wrongdoing and has been publicly criticizing the case, including calling out Georgia Governor Brian Kemp on social media.

The arraignments for the defendants are proposed to take place during the week of September 5th, with the trial scheduled for March.

Bond has also been set today for the three lawyers indicted alongside Trump. Their RICO bond amounts to $20,000 each, with varying amounts for the other charges they are facing. John Eastman and Kenneth Chesebro have a bond set at $100,000, while Ray Smith’s bond is $50,000.

Scott Hall, a bail bondsman accused of participating in a breach of election equipment, has had his bond set at $10,000.

This marks the fourth criminal case against Donald Trump, who is currently campaigning for reelection in 2024.
