An event for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was abruptly halted in Belleville, Ont., today after approximately 100 protesters surrounded him and his motorcade.
Trudeau was in the city to commemorate the seventh anniversary of the Liberal government’s Child Care Benefit, meet with the mayor, and visit a farmers’ market.
As Trudeau interacted with community members and took selfies at the market outside city hall, protesters gathered and voiced their discontent.
Initially scheduled to meet with around 10 vendors, Trudeau found it difficult to navigate through the public square due to the swarm of protesters.
Some of the protesters held Trump flags, while others expressed their frustrations with the government and the media.
