Short Questions with Dana Perino

This week, Dana Perino asks questions of Trey Gowdy, who reveals the four people, living or dead, that he’d invite to a dinner party — plus the best part of living in a small town in America.  (Fox News)

Q: Is the American dream still alive?

TG: Absolutely! The American dream is within reach for anyone who is willing to go after it.

Q: What was the last book you read?

TG: I recently finished reading “The Water Dancer” and I just started (restarted) “In Search of Lost Time.”

Q: What question should every manager ask in a job interview?

TG: Managers should ask candidates, “How do you differentiate between success and significance?” This question helps assess a person’s values and mindset.

Q: Which four people, living or dead, would you invite to a dinner party?

TG: I’d invite my wife, Terri; Jesus; Bono; and Judas Iscariot.

Q: What’s the best part of living in a small town in America?

TG: Living in a small town offers a sense of familiarity, cherished memories, and a strong sense of community.

Q: If you could give advice to your younger self, what would it be?

TG: I would advise my younger self to envision the closing argument for my life and make decisions that align with reaching that desired outcome. It’s important to define success and significance on one’s own terms and be discerning about the influences we allow into our lives.

Q: What makes America unique and special compared to other nations in your opinion?

TG: America stands out as a remarkable blend of forgiveness and accountability, truth and the freedom to challenge it. We, as a nation, strive for perfection and embrace the power of self-governance.

Define success and significance according to your own terms — and be careful about the voices you allow into your life.
