Tragic Accident: Fried-Chicken Cook Tragically Passes Away After Mishap in Wok of Hot Oil

Tragedy struck in Malaysia as a fried-chicken cook lost his life on Tuesday when he accidentally plunged his face into scorching hot oil in a wok, according to local media.

Liu Youcai, aged 58, was in the midst of preparing a chicken chop dish at around 1 p.m. at his stall in Kangsar when he suddenly collapsed, as reported by China Press.

While unconscious, Liu’s face tragically ended up in the hot oil. Thankfully, his assistant and fellow hawkers at the food market acted promptly and managed to rescue him, as stated by China Press.

Liu was still breathing when he was rushed to Kuala Kangsar hospital by an ambulance. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at 2:21 p.m., according to China Press.

Details of Liu’s funeral service were posted by Chee Hong Funeral Management Services, along with photos of the deceased.

China Press also shared footage of the accident scene, showing emergency responders attending to Liu.

According to Liu’s brother, Liu Youming, an autopsy report cited suffocation and second-degree burns from inhaling smoke as the cause of death, as reported by Sinchew News.

Liu Youming also revealed that Liu had been battling high blood pressure and high cholesterol prior to his demise.

Many social-media users have been paying tribute to Liu, fondly referring to him as “Older Brother Cai” and expressing their appreciation for his affordable and delicious chicken rice.

Liu’s funeral took place on Thursday at 11 a.m., according to the funeral company.

A similar incident occurred in 2021, when a 25-year-old chef in Iraq fell into a large vat of chicken soup he was preparing for a wedding. Unfortunately, he suffered severe burns and passed away five days later.
