Tory MP Gary Streeter’s Alleged Attempt to Evict Single Mother: A Fallout Over Covid Reveal

A single mother, Layla Williams, is facing eviction by Tory MP Gary Streeter, which she claims has destroyed their friendship due to his party’s stance on Covid-19. Williams had been employed by Streeter to care for his horses on his farm in Plympton, Devon. However, their once amicable relationship soured during the pandemic. Recently, CCTV footage emerged of Streeter ripping down security cameras outside Williams’ bungalow. She alleges that his actions have left her and her 12-year-old son fearful. Williams had installed the cameras to ensure their safety on the farm. In an interview with MailOnline, she stated that their conflicts began in 2020 when she expressed differing opinions about the Tory government’s response to the pandemic. According to Williams, Streeter informed her that he did not want anyone with differing opinions on the farm. She claimed that he threatened to evict her, but she countered with an unfair dismissal claim. Ultimately, she agreed to a £1500 redundancy claim to remain on the property. Since then, Williams asserts that Streeter has continuously threatened to kick her out whenever she complains about issues on the farm. She reported the MP to the police for criminal damage and harassment, and she is currently waiting for a response. Videos captured by Williams also show Streeter attempting to damage the cameras and peering through her windows and gate. Streeter denies any harassment and justifies the eviction based on her failure to pay rent since January. Williams admits that she stopped paying rent due to repairs not being addressed. She reveals a Section 21 eviction notice that Streeter initially served, which she claims demonstrates his greed rather than a genuine reason for eviction. Despite not contesting the court order, Williams decided to share her story to shed light on Streeter’s behavior. She emphasizes feeling unsettled and frightened by his actions, including staring into her windows. Williams concludes that while she will comply with the court order, she believes they had every right to live on the farm without harassment. Meanwhile, Streeter, who has served as a Conservative MP since 1992, rejected the allegations of harassment and maintains that he has shown kindness to Williams. He confirms that a possession order has been granted, and the bailiffs will be instructed if she fails to vacate the property. Devon and Cornwall Police declined to comment on the situation.
