Preply, a service that connects people with language learning resources, has created a “community-spirit index” to rank cities based on their welcoming nature for non-locals.
“A strong sense of community can make newcomers feel right at home, helping them navigate the challenges of adjusting to a new environment, make new connections, and build meaningful relationships,” explained Preply’s report.
Preply analyzed six factors to determine the friendliest cities in the world: visitor return rates, safety, friendliness of hospitality staff, LGBTQ+ equality, overall happiness, and English-speaking proficiency. For English-speaking proficiency, Preply looked at each city’s score to determine the ease of communication.
