Tennessee Titans running back, Hassan Haskins, finds himself in legal trouble after an incident involving his girlfriend and an Instagram argument. Haskins has been charged with aggravated assault-strangulation, as he allegedly became upset when his girlfriend liked another man’s photo on Instagram.
Both Haskins and his girlfriend, Makiah Green, were arrested in the early hours of Thursday morning. They were later released on bond from Davidson County Jail. The couple is scheduled to appear before Davidson County General Sessions Judge Ana Escobar on July 10.
Haskins, who is entering his second season with the Titans, was taken in the fourth round from the University of Michigan. Last year, he played in 15 games and had 25 carries for 93 yards.
The altercation between Haskins and Green began on June 22, when they started arguing over Green’s liking of another man’s Instagram post. During the argument, Haskins allegedly strangled Green for a brief period. Pictures provided by Green show bruising on her cheek and redness on her neck.
The conflict escalated a few days later when they were at a restaurant. ESPN reports that Haskins drove home, leaving Green at the restaurant. She later ordered an Uber to return home. Back at their residence, Green threw a glass that shattered and then closed a bedroom door. Haskins allegedly punched and kicked the door, causing it to break. Green claims that she then broke Haskins’ expensive chain. The couple also fought over Green’s phone, which Haskins threw and broke.
Further details reveal that Green saw explicit photos of other women on Haskins’ Snapchat account, leading to her anger. She picked up a knife with the intention of slashing his tires, but backed down when she heard Haskins cock his gun. Haskins, on the other hand, accused Green of putting a hole in the wall by throwing his PlayStation 5. He also provided videos to the police showing Green hitting him with a broom.
The Titans released a statement, acknowledging the situation and stating that they are gathering more information. Both Haskins and Green face serious charges and will have to face the legal consequences of their actions.
